Micro and Macro Decisions

In order to plan for my horror trailer I needed to take into consideration Micro and Macro decisions;

Micro decisions are those little things which add to the effect of the trailer, basically everything in the mise-en-scene; these little decisions include music, editing, props, actions, sound effects, setting, haircuts, make up, camera angles, scripting, casting, lighting, costume and so on .

Macro decisions are the big ideas which make up the unique selling point, morals and the in depth message behind the film.

Examples of micro and macro decisions that I will have to make for my horror trailer;

Micro decisions- for my film trailer I am thinking about shooting most of my footage outside, so I will need to find a secluded area and make sure it is a nice day outside.

Macro decisions- for most of my trailer I will be following normal conventions, this includes Vladimir Propps theory. My film also shows that the audience is passive where if a person is surrounded by violence then they will become desensitised by this and will later on replicate the actions and become what they thought the villain was, in this case where main character was beaten when he was younger by his mother he later on presses this habit and beats younger women.
