Magazine Mock Up

Before I was able to create my magazine I had to decide whether to use Photoshop or InDesign. Photoshop's key feature is that it enables me to go into more depth on the lay control panel. Photoshop allows me to manipulate each layer more than InDesign does. InDesign's layer panel is a lot more simple.
Unfortunately Photoshop is not designed to create 2 page spreads whereas InDesign is. Within this software you are able to put pages next to one another so you are able to digitally see what a 2 page spread would look like.  It is commonly used for magazine pages, however, as I am only doing a front cover I will not need to use the 2 page spread effect but if I was going to further my magazine posts I would use this tool.
Photoshop is directly for editing images on a more in depth level whereas InDesign is for control over the application of typography and using it in the correct form.  As I am creating a magazine front cover I will need to control the context. I have decided that I will use Photoshop to edit my main image and then save it as a normal windows image and then export it over to Indesign and edit the main body text on there.

Here is my layout for my final magazine front cover.  I have edited this by using Indesign. As you can see I have not yet added my main image to the poster, this is because I have not yet taken an image which will reflect my theme.

I have chosen to go with the colour theme red, black and white. I have decided to go with using red as it is often connected with the horror industry.

  1. Lucy your choice of colours is striking and appealing. However consider the variety of fonts on the cover in general and the font choice of 'LOST AND WILD; in particular. It appears too busy. Remember the importance of space on the cover.
